I have been reading Piper’s “Let the Nations Be Glad” and it is awesome! Some of what Gorf does is take worship music from a different culture (early 18th century western church culture) and rework it for our current culture, so that we may join in the worship less encumbered with unnatrual “culture-translation” difficulties.

Wycliffe Bible Translators and similar groups do the same thing. They study and learn a target culture and language, and then present the Word and Worship music in the heart language using relevent musical instruments and themes, not simply western themes translated.

Anyway, Gorf’s work in this area helps me be glad in the Lord. I hope making his music available online, as well as this interview, etc., enlarges his tent of influence to call others into right worship with our Lord, so they can be glad, too!
